[LDM #UST-447927]: LDM - LDM 6.4.5 SIGSEGV

Yeah.  Software bugs can be very peculiar.  Whether or not a latent
bug is activated can depend, for example, on the exact details of the
layout of the program in memory.  Changing a program by one, additional
byte can activate or deactivate a bug -- especially in C or C++.  Sigh.
