717 NOUS72 KNCF 232207 ADMNCF PLEASE PASS TO MIC, HIC, ESA, ITO, AND SOO SUBJ: AWIPS SBN INTERRUPTIONS DUE TO SOLAR ECLIPSE ~ FROM SEPTEMBER 26 THROUGH OCTOBER 19, THE SUN WILL ALIGN WITH THE AMC-4 SPACECRAFT IN SUCH A WAY THAT SOLAR RF ENERGY WILL DEGRADE OR INTERRUPT RECEIPT OF AWIPS SBN TRANSMISSION AT VARYING TIMES BETWEEN 1800Z AND 2000Z. ~ SBN SIGNAL TRANSMISSION DEGRADATION OR INTERRUPTION DUE TO INTERFERENCE MAY LAST ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND WILL OCCUR DAILY. SITES AT SOUTHERN LATITUES WILL BEGIN TO SEE THE EFFECTS IN LATE SEPTEMBER AND AS THE DAYS PROGRESS THE IMPACT WILL PROGRESS TO SITES FURTHER NORTH. ~ ncf/kbb
