Gilbert, The /p string is used for products which provide a second line following the WMO that provides the NWS PIL. Since the redbook products don't have a pil line, there is no /p tag. The information following the "!" character (such as is provided for grib, bufr, redbook etc) is information I'm obtaining in the noaaport ingestor from within the data itself and providing to suplement the WMO header as more explanatory than the WMO provides)..
