I even tried building a binary distribution on our IRIX 6.5 machine and seeing if I could get it to run, but it didn't work probably because our version of IRIX is more recent than yours. The only thing we can think to try is loading of a gcc development environment on maelstrom2. Is this possible, or would it be too much of a headache? Or, is there another machine with more recent compilers on which the LDM-6 could be built and run? We are, of course, open to any suggestions that you may have.
