Hello Sanket, Yes, with the binary distribution no make/compile function is needed. For ease it is wisest to follow the install instructions as completely as possible. If we need to change paths or directory structures, we can do so, but then our "standard" config will not apply and it may be more problematic, especially if you need support. It is important to have a local data dir...GEMPAK decoders are included in the distribution. re the user ldm...hmmm, I would need access to your machine to see why this is. You may need to remove the old uid for ldm and create a new ldm "user". I take it you were setting the uid while being "root" correct? Keep me posted and good luck!
