Pavel, Have you investigated this with your network people at Howard? I am suspecting either DNS issues, or firewall implications. Do you have snow and thelma in your /etc/hosts systems file? Could you please send the relevant portion of your ldmd.log file when the connect attempts were made so I can see what is taking place..
