Our support is for registered Unidata Participants only, mostly educational institutions and research labs. See our web page for more information regarding our participation policy. Our ingest machine here at UCAR, a Solaris 7 i86, uses the SDI software and runs the LDM very successfully. We do not read from ports, but from FIFOs instead. Since you presumably purchased the SSEC software, I would ask them for support. Regarding reading from a socket, our ingest software, pqing, will read from a port with the -P option. Bear in mind that pqing was originally written for FOS products. It has been adapted to handle NOAAPORT products. These days people are using it for all kinds of things for which it was not intended, such as very large products, which can lead to difficulties. Also, you are very welcome to peruse our support archives for further assistance. Good luck!
