Luis, For historical GFS/NAM data I would look at NOMADS: http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov/ They have THREDDDS servers (for example, http://nomads.ncdc.noaa.gov/thredds/catalog.html) that may have the information you are looking for. I am also CCing my colleague Jeff Weber, who has more expertise in this area for locating historical data sets.
