In main display: Tools, Text Data, ATCF Tropical Storm Data > 2. In Field Selector: Storm Track, Create Display. > 3. In Storm Track window: Select a hurricane (I looked at Irene), Load > Tracks, Storm Chart > 4. Under Parameters, check Storm Category > In the ACTF date, the category is tropical cyclone category, not hurrican category. Here is the list: TY - Level of tc development: DB - disturbance, TD - tropical depression, TS - tropical storm, TY - typhoon, ST - super typhoon, TC - tropical cyclone, HU - hurricane, SD - subtropical depression, SS - subtropical storm, EX - extratropical systems, IN - inland, DS - dissipating, LO - low, WV - tropical wave, ET - extrapolated, XX - unknown. So, cat 6 only means it is hurricane. Yuan > In the case of Irene, the storm is showing up as a Cat 6 for 24 Aug 2011, > when in reality it should be a Cat 2. > > > ################################################################################ > > http://dcdbs.ssec.wisc.edu/inquiry-v/index.php?inquiry=1133 > > Ticket Details =================== Ticket ID: YYE-140433 Department: Support IDV Priority: Normal Status: Closed
