Greetings Donna!

I've ran across some posts where users of Java3D application have had issues
with NVIDIA Quadro NVS cards. These issues seem to be fixed with a driver
update. Would you mind going to the following location and try the latest
drivers to see if this fixes the issue (since you have root, it's worth a shot).

http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_nvs_295_us.html

Also, you could download and try the latest java3d
(https://cds.sun.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/CDS-CDS_Developer-Site/en_US/-/USD/ViewProductDetail-Start?ProductRef=java3d-1.5.1-oth-JPR@CDS-CDS_Developer).

I'll keep digging around, but please let us know if any of these solutions work.

Cheers!

Sean
