[IDV #UMQ-271434]: just tryiing to install the latest

Sorry about the delay in getting back with you on this.

This sounds like a deep down Java bug:

In this forum there seems to be a fix with editing the registry:

You might try installing the attached properties file as a plugin. If you 
cannot run the IDV to install it then copy it to:
<user home dir>/.unidata/idv/DefaultIdv/plugins
where <user home dir> should be c:/Documents and Settings/<user name> on windows
