Hi Jiwen- > Hi, I want to view 3-D cloud fields from the outputs of the > cloud-resolving model (nercdf format). Is IDV able to do that since I do > not have latitudes and longitudes? If so, do I need to process my output > data with some kind of tools? Or can IDV directly read files with netcdf > format? Thanks for help. At the present time, the IDV needs to know how to geolocate the data. That can either by by having the lat/lon information in the file, or having some information about the map projection which can turn the data from grid index to lat/lon. In both cases, we recommend adhering to the CF metadata conventions for the netCDF files: http://cf-pcmdi.llnl.gov/ So, if you can tailor your netCDF output to fit that convention, then the IDV should read it. If you want to provide a small, sample file for us to look at, we can look it over and let you know what is missing.
