The pattern needs to be the name or description of the actual field, not its 
parent category.

Open up the tree in the Fields area and the actual field is the "Raw", 
"Radiance", etc.
Mouse over the field and you'll see the name (e.g., 52_Band7_RAW). Use that as 
the pattern, e.g.:
a[pattern=52_Band7_.*] + b[pattern=52_Band9.*] + c[pattern=52_Band10.*]
