[IDV #QWT-937582]: Unable to open grid

There are many reasons why a grid might not be compliant for
the IDV and we support many conventions besides CF.  I think
it would be hard to figure out exactly what is missing given
the myriad ways of describing a grid in CF even.  One
other option is to use the CF conventions checker at:

http://titania.badc.rl.ac.uk/cgi-bin/cf-checker.pl

or the Common Data Model validation tool (which checks most of the 
conventions supported by IDV):
