Not sure what the format of your netcdf is. Here is a description of the 
conventions that the IDV can read:

We also can read in a CSV text format:
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/docs/userguide/data/TextPointData.html

Send us in an example netcdf file and we can look at it.
