[IDV #IFC-104064]: how to save as tif

The View menu I described was the one on the main window, but that is
only for capturing frames from the main display window, not the 
Quick Time control.

If you are displaying a pre-generated Quick Time movie, there is no way 
in the IDV to extract the individual fames.  The player that the IDV
uses is only a Quick Time player, not an editor.

You could try using some image editing tool, but I don't know anything about 
those.  A Google search of "extracting frames from quicktime" produces several
options.
