Hi Carla-

And here I was on my end thinking your silence was strange. ;-) I thought
I had replied to your message, but I must have been composing it when
my web app crashed last week. So, my apologies for the lack of response.
I was able to access the EUMETSAT server using your imagedefaults.xml
so the issue must be on the location of the file on your system.
Is it in the .metapps/DefaultIdv directory of your home directory?
This directory should exist already. On Windows, it is typically
under the c:/Documents And Settings/<username> directory (where
<username> is your login name). Is that where you put it?
Another (sure fire?) way to do this is install it as a plugin.
From the File->Plugins->Installl From a File menu, choose the
imagedefaults.xml file from your disk. After installing it, you
will have to restart the IDV.
Also, the dataset names are case sensitive, so make sure you
use EUM_AD in the chooser for 193.17.10.4. Finally, the default
is to load the images in a full resolution. Given the memory
limitation on your system, make sure you blowdown the image
using the magnification slider. You can modify your imagedefaults
file (and reinstall it) to set up defaults for your different
datasets if you wish. For example, I use the following:
<default
name="193.17.10.4"
user="<myid>"
proj="<myprojid>"/>
<default
name="EUM_AD/M8"
key="LATLON"
place="CENTER"
loc="0 0"
mag="-10 -10"/>
<default
name="EUM_AD/M8HRV"
loc="46 10"
size="512 512"/>
They entries are cumlative, so you can have one that has your
id/proj for the server and then have subsequent ones that
have defaults for the various datasets on the server. The id/proj
will be included from the first entry.
Let me know if this doesn't work for you. Again, sorry for the
miscommunication.
