The user interface is allowing you to do a multiple selection of the data 
sources in the field selector.
However, this really has no effect, only one of those selected data sources is 
actually being used.

Right now the IDV cannot aggregate multiple grid files as one data source.
You will need to select one, subset it, create a display.
Select the next, subset it, create a display.
etc.
