Does this have the latest video driver installed?  Sometimes that
fixes problems like these.  Also perhaps this has a different card
than the other systems which might be the difference.

BTW, if you are daring, you could download the latest IDV nightly
build from:

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/idv/release/nightly

which now lets you do the vertical cross sections of barbs colored
by wind speed (or any other parameter, e.g Temperature) and fixes
some problems with the plan views of vectors colored by another
parameter.
