Hi Stu:

The problem with this file is that it says it uses CF conventions, but it 
doesnt. CF uses coordinate variables, not coordinate naming conventions.

It looks like a point obs file, I would reccommend using our point obs 
convention; the CF convention on point obs are immature, and dont easily allow 
using the record variable.
