I am using a Mac G5 with 1GB SDRAM. Are you trying to plot all timesteps? Are these staggered grids, or on regular coordinates. The staggered grids use more memory. What vertical coordinate are you using? The WRF Eta coordinate also uses much more memory. We will be working on ways to reduce the memory consumption by the IDV for the next release. Unfortunately, for now, my only suggestion is to subset on time.
