Subodh, There is SST data at the URL http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/THREDDS/catalog.xml which you can read with the IDV. Click on Add new data source, Gridded data tab, enter this URL. Look in the folders for COADS, GFDL, "NOAA...SST', and Reynolds.
