This archive contains answers to questions sent to Unidata support through mid-2025. Note that the archive is no longer being updated. We provide the archive for reference; many of the answers presented here remain technically correct, even if somewhat outdated. For the most up-to-date information on the use of NSF Unidata software and data services, please consult the Software Documentation first.
If you find errors in the User's Guide please let us know. The 66 MB memory limit is not such a case - the question is whether our startup configuration files have an error or not. The User's Guide states the correct information about system requirements and starting the IDV. The User's Guide is written strictly by reference to the current version, not to some requirements document. **************************************************************************** Unidata User Support UCAR Unidata Program 303 497 8643 P.O. Try running the IDV software (Beta-5)
on windows and then answer my questions.... Sometimes the documents and
requirements are a reflection of the product when it is totally completed and not
in its "beta" phase... I would definitely suggest running IDV (as well as reading the
documents) and make sure that the specs are in agreement with the written word
and reality...
John McCormick
John McCormick wrote:
Stuart:
That's not the point... Our IDV Web Start jnlp files
specify, I believe, at least 500 MB at startup.
