LDM/IDD participants: Earlier today, service from the top level IDD relay idd.unidata.ucar.edu was lost for a substantial fraction of an hour. The cause of the outage appears to have been a power supply failure in a unit that provided Internet connections in and out of the UW/NCAR NWSC (NCAR-Wyoming SuperComputer center) where the idd.unidata.ucar.edu cluster is housed. Since a fix to the problem had been anticipated to be fast, the outage was not announced to the IDD community while it was in progress. Impacts: For sites whose LDM queues are large enough, the outage should not have resulted in loss of data. For sites whose LDM queues are "small", there could have been a loss of some data.
