Hi Kelly, re: > hey folks. we are planning to move pluto.met.fsu.edu to a new ip address > 128.186.126.10 in the next week. is there anything we need to consider > or people we should notify? the date is flexible but time frame is not. If forward and reverse DNS is setup for this machine after the IP address change, then it is most likely that you will not need to do anything. This assumes, however, that the upstream LDM relay(s) that you are REQUESTing from added ALLOW(s) for your feed REQUEST(s) using the fully qualified name of your machine. The most important thing for you to do is to work with your networking folks to make sure that forward and reverse DNS is setup for pluto as soon as it is moved to a new IP address. The easiest way to test to see if this has been done is to login to some machine other than pluto and do a lookup (e.g., nslookup, dig, etc.) of your machine by name and by IP address and verify that the name <-> IP address and IP address <-> name are the same. NB: Sometimes it takes "a while" for the DNS setup to propagate through the internet, so there is a possibility that you would stop receiving your feeds until the propagation has been done.
