Hi Kantave, re: > I am the current technician at the Jackson State University Meteorology > Department and we would very much like to have an LDM Feed. > > Site Name: Jackson State University > Site Administrator: Kantave Greene > Email Address: address@hidden > Phone Number: 601-979-1293 > FQN: jsumet.jsums.edu (143.132.224.46) > Desired Feeds: IDS/DDPLUS, FNEXRAD, NEXRAD3, UNIWISC, CONDUIT What we need from you is the fully qualified name of the machine on which you are/will be running an LDM AND its IP address. We need both the name and the IP address so we can verify that both forward and reverse DNS exists for your machine. If it does not, we will be advising you to contact your network folks to get the DNS properly setup. This is a prerequisite to running an LDM. re: > P.S. I am a bit uneducated as to the major difference between some of > the feeds, especially between CONDUIT and UNIWISC. It appears the major > difference is data frequency. The CONDUIT datastream contains high resolution model output from NCEP. It is on average the highest volume feed of all of the feeds available in the IDD. One must have a _very_ good network connection (big pipe) in order to be able to ingest CONDUIT. The UNIWISC datatstream contains GOES-East/West satellite image sectors. It is a relatively low volume datastream. re: > Do you assign the upstream site or do I determine the upstream site, and > if so how do I find out who the upstream sites are? We assign an upstream feed site _after_ we have verified that there is forward and reverse DNS for the machine you want to use.
