Hi Weidong, I apologize for not being able to respond yesterday. > I had made LDM and LDM-Mcidas running properly here, thanks a > lot for your help. Excellent. Looks like you didn't need my input to get the ldm-mcidas 'pnga2area' decoder working with UNIWISC images being delivered in the IDD. > Have a look at that image, I can see that it is 8 bit data > as you said, All of the images being sent in the IDD (UNIWISC for GOES sectors) and NIMAGE (for GOES sectors/products in geometric projections; used by US weather forecast offices) are 8-bit. > for the our research project, we'd better had the 10 bit GOES > West and East data with whole America coverage and ideally, we > will prefer the data in 10 bit GVAR count with oversample resolution > which is 4748 by 2698 for one fulldisk slot. > > If you don't have, do you know someway I can get that data? We operate ingest systems for GOES-East, GOES-West, and GOES-South (GOES-10 South American coverage): GOES-East - goeseast.unidata.ucar.edu GOES-West - goeswest.unidata.ucar.edu GOES-south - goessouth.unidata.ucar.edu Full resolution data (i.e., 10-bit) are available from these systems in real-time via McIDAS ADDE data server. You can access the imagery using ADDE-enabled applications like McIDAS-X, Unidata IDV, SSEC McIDAS-V. All of these applications are available free-of-charge; McIDAS-X is available from Unidata to universities who use the package by students in the pursuit of degrees. All packages have the capability of creating local McIDAS AREA format files of the full resolution data. They also have the capability of manipulating the images to produce products like the one(s) you are aiming to produce. In order to download packages from Unidata, you must first register with our website: Unidata HomePage http://www.unidata.ucar.edu Click on the Login link near the top of the page and follow the links for new users To get access to Unidata McIDAS-X/-XCD, you would need to agree to the restrictions for use that UW/SSEC (the developers/owners of McIDAS-X) have imposed on our distribution of the package. I can include this information in a separate email if you are interested. Please let me know if you are interested in pursuing use of Unidata McIDAS-X or the IDV. If you are, please send the follow-up email to: address@hidden <- McIDAS-X questions address@hidden <- IDV questions Cheers, Tom -- **************************************************************************** Unidata User Support UCAR Unidata Program (303) 497-8642 P.O.
