[IDD #VOV-832074]: Lost NEXRAD2 feed from idd.unidata.ucar.edu

Hi John,

re:
> Good to hear from you -- it's been a long time!

I agree!

I have to apologize for not being able to get on top of this problem...
there are some things going on that I do not quite yet understand.

I remembered sometime after sending you the note this morning that
you may not be able to feed from idd.cise-nsf.gov at all. It used
to be the case that idd.cise-nsf.gov could only service requests
that originated over I2. I am not sure if this is still the case,
and the person who would know is not available today (today is
a holiday for use here in UCAR).
However idd.unidata.ucar.edu seems to be feeding eastern region now.

OK, so you _can_ request from idd.cise-nsf.gov... good. I was
told yesterday that one of the real servers in the relay node idd.cise-nsf.gov
had lost one of its CPU fans. The result was that it was overheating
and shutting itself off. The clustering setup at the NSF office is likely
directing your feed request to the node that is going down. Other than
that, I am stumped at the moment.

> Do you think the issue on the former server is fixed?

I sure hope so. For reference, I don't think the problem originates
at idd.unidata.ucar.edu. I think that the sites it is feeding
NEXRAD2 data from are not sending the data that you are looking for.
Again, there are some things going on that I do not have a good
handle on at the moment; sorry.

Cheers,

Tom
