Hi Steve,
Thanks for the quick action wrt sudo out of the 'ldm' account.
I modified /etc/syslog.conf as 'root' to include the needed changes
for LDM logging. I verified that the new changes work as follows:
<as 'ldm'>
hupsyslog
logger -p local0.debug 'test of ldm logging'
The test message was written into the ~ldm/logs/ldmd.log file as it
should be, so logging now works.
Also, using 'sudo' I was able to edit the /etc/hosts file and correct
the problems I found there: the whitespace between IP addresses and
fully qualified host names AND aliases MUST be tabs, not spaces. I
changed all occurrences of spaces to tabs to clean up. After making
these changes and then stopping and restarting the LDM, data started flowing:
