As near as I can tell, bigbird.tamu.edu is back up and healthy/happy. .edu sites can fail over at will. Others need to contact me and I'll reconfig for your use. 

I'm impressed if they can revamp your whole network in 5 hours!

I apologize for the short notice. I knew this outage was coming, but I did't know when. They are redoing the entire network in our building, which necessitates the above mentioned outages.
