Apparently, ns2.rutgers.edu was the authoritative name and ldm.rutgers.edu was a cname. Then at some point this week ns2.rutgers.edu was put on a different machine, given a new IP address/DNS registration and ldm.rutgers.edu assumed the authoritative name for 165.230.4.96.
Glad it is working now.I have not done anything with NEXRAD because there is no acute need for it right now. The internal and external projects of completely rewiring the building, purchasing the gigabit server, building the new server room, hiring another FT employee for me and submitting 4 proposals in the last month have nearly caused me to go completely insane! :-)
Another reason we haven't gone to NEXRAD is because we just got a realtime feed of NEXRAD from newark due to a deicing program they have. They mounted some instruments out at our met tower site and we got a free feed. It works great although the we can't archive anything off of it (standalone system). At least I didn't have to set it up!
Let me know if you need me to do anything else. Tom At 04:43 PM 3/21/2001 -0500, David Fitzgerald wrote:
Tom (and Jeff), Ok this is weird... I just tried a notifyme to ldm.rutgers.edu and it worked!Don't know why though as I made no changes here. Anyway I connected to you and am feeding from you just fine. One thing I did notice though... a traceroute to ldm.rutgers.edu no longer ends at ns2.rutgers.edu, but properly ends at ldm.rutgers.edu. Maybe it was a DNS problem after all, but I could resolve ldm.rutgers.edu ok before? HUH? Don't know, but it works and thats what counts! By the way are you getting any of the NNEXRAD products? Jeff, I am no longer feeding from thelma. Thanks for you help on this. Now back to my WIN 2000 upgrade project. Could it be your DSL provider?
