Here is some information on the radar data on the noaaport data feed (from Chuck Piercy, Natl Weather Service headquarters). "What's New" section of the NOAAPORT User's Page at: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/noaaport/html/whats_nw.shtml This will explain the plans for open dissemination of 88D products on NOAAPort and the web. The page also has a paper describing the compression technique that will be used, and has sample compressed 88D product files. One caveat that is probably not covered on the NOAAPort web page is the fact that we will probably not be able to begin NOAAPort dissemination of 88D products until late 2000 (most likely later than 10/1/00) when we get release release 4.3.3 fielded to all AWIPS sites so they can receive the data in the new compressed format. Hope this helps Darien Davis Forecast Systems Lab -------------------------Forwarded------------------------ From: address@hidden at EXTERNAL To: address@hidden at EXTERNAL Subject: Radar File Format Greetings, I am curious if documentation on the format for the radar data that will become available this October through NOAAPORT is freely available for download some place. If not, is there any plan to do so. Thanks. Bryan Rockwood Creighton University
