I'm not sure what the problem was, the machine was just locked up. Normally it is very stable. I don't think it had anything to do with Y2K. It was fixed earlier today but I wanted to make sure it was indeed stable before sending out anything. Anyone feeding from squall.atmos.uiuc.edu can switch back to data2.atmos.uiuc.edu at their convenience.
