This archive contains answers to questions sent to Unidata support through mid-2025. Note that the archive is no longer being updated. We provide the archive for reference; many of the answers presented here remain technically correct, even if somewhat outdated. For the most up-to-date information on the use of NSF Unidata software and data services, please consult the Software Documentation first.
The definition setenv NAWIPS /home/gempak/GEMPAK6.2.0 MUST point to the correct location of the 6.2.0 installation, so if it's in /opt/gempak/6.2.0 (is this correct? not /opt/gempak/GEMPAK6.2.0 ?), it should be: setenv NAWIPS /opt/gempak/6.2.0 If you are unable to edit the Gemenviron file you'll need to have your system administrator make the change. Without this edit I'm afraid your problem will persist. -Michael > Hi Michael, > > Hmm, I think part of the problem might be that I'm using a version > installed by system administrators, and so I don't own the files and > therefore can't alter the Gemenviron b/c it is all read-only. > > In terms of the NAWIPS setting, part of the issue seems to be that > NAWIPS points to /home/gempak, but everything is actually in /opt/gempak: > > [kmahoney@fe1 6.2.0]$ pwd > /opt/gempak/6.2.0 > [kmahoney@fe1 6.2.0]$ more Gemenviron > ... > # Top level directory: > setenv NAWIPS /home/gempak/GEMPAK6.2.0 > > so...there is no /home/gempak: > [kmahoney@fe1 6.2.0]$ ls /home/gempak > ls: /home/gempak: No such file or directory > > Do you think there is a workaround here, or will I ultimately have to > get the sysadmins to fix it (or install my own version in my own dir?) > > Thanks for your help, > Kelly > > > > > > > > > > On 1/18/2012 3:18 PM, Unidata GEMPAK Support wrote: > > First, check what Gemenviron file is being sourced in your .cshrc - many > > times users will source the file /home/gempak/NAWIPS/Gemenviron, where > > "NAWIPS" is a symbolic link that is still pointed to the older (5.10.2) > > installation.
