[GEMPAK #BFK-552473]: Moving McIDAS AREA's to GEMPAK

Jennie,
You should be able to view single banded AREA files in GEMPAK. From what you
list out, the WV band appears to be tha only band in the file, so you should
be set to go.
To use a satellite image in a GEMPAK grid diagnostic program, just use
PROJ=sat
SATFIL=yoursatelliteimage
GAREA=dset
CLEAR=y
LUTFIL=default
Initially, you can set GAREA=dset to use the entire area of the image file.
If you have asmaller region of view, then you canspecify that in the GAREA.
The grid points of the grid data will be automatically projected into the
satellite
projection.
If your altered water vapor images have a different data range than the usual
data, then
the default LUTFIL color table may not be what you want. There are many
possible LUTFIL
examples in $GEMTBL/luts that could be used (eg those beginning wv_ highlight
certain data
ranges for the normal data products).
