Chris-

In the home directory of the gempak account I used, there is a gemglb.nts
file that has duplicate entries (I'm not sure how that happened). I've
attached a copy to this message. If you look, there are duplicate entries
for SFFILE and GDFILE (as well as many others):

SFFILE /usr/local/ldm/data/surface/20000512_sao.gem
GDFILE /usr/local/gempak/grids/current_analy.grd
SFFILE /usr/local/ldm/data/mos/2000050712_nmos.gem
GDFILE /usr/local/ldm/data/hds/2000050700_eta_grid211.gem

I'd guess that it uses the last one of a variable it finds in the
file, that's why you keep seeing the errors about the files from
the 7th not existing. The quick solution is to delete gemglb.nts.

As I mentioned earlier, it is better to have the script cd to a
specific directory so it doesn't conflict with other scripts. Here
is a message from Chiz to someone else from the archives on a way
to do this:

>Often when I have lots of scripts to run, I make each of them create
>their own temporary working directory using the process number, eg:
>
>cd $GEMDATA/tmp
>set WORK=ruc_gdplot.$$
>mkdir $WORK
>cd $WORK
>
>.....
>
>rm -f *
>cd ..
>rmdir $WORK
