Robert,

Are you saying that GEMPAK used to work on that machine,
and now it doesn't? If nothing else is running on the system and
you just rebooted (presumably you are out of netscape now),
it sounds like an X server configuration was changed.

Verify that xdpyinfo shows that the default visual is
an 8 bit (pseudocolor) display.

I don't know why ntl would say you have 1400 colors available.
That doesn't sound right. Have you tried cutting down the
number of colors that ntl is requesting- like "ntl -s 64" for
64 satellite colors instead of 128?
