19990128: decoding GRIB files from NCEP FTP server, resend traceroute

Robert,

Do you have $GEMTBL defined? if not in your environment, then
dcgrib will need the "-g gemtbl_path" defined so that it can find
all the tables it needs. The small file created sounds like
it created the header but can't write any grids- typically
this is associated with missing tables. See what dcgrib is unhappy 
about by adding the "-d -" option to the command line.

Since you got the grid003 name from the file, it sounds like
dcgrib is correctly reading the file- so it is not corrupt.

Looks like Arizona has the best route. I'll send them a note.
Is wxmcidas your LDM host?
