Ruth,

The problem is that you got the nj40 version, not the nj22 version 
of the grib jar

if the ftp dir get either 

GRIBJavaNj22.tar.gz or grib-decoder-java_6.0.0.nj22.tar.gz

also you should delete the *gbx and *xml file before you start, so 
your not using the old files.
