Hello all, --------COMET CASE STUDY 036--SEATTLE SNOWSTORM--------- (15-17 FEBRUARY, 2001) SUMMARY: On Friday, February 16, 2001, a major snowstorm hit the Seattle area as an arctic front moved from Canada into Washington, interacting with warmer, moist, Pacific air. Accumulations generally ranged from four to eight inches of snow across most of the lowlands of western Washington with a foot of snow over the hills around Seattle. OBJECTIVE: This case provides an example of an arctic front moving through the complex terrain of the West. -----NEW FORMAT AVAILABLE----- Data for Case 036 is also available in netCDF, AWIPS compatible format when ordered as a complete dataset through the CODIAC WWW system.
