Make sure you capitalize the "D" in "caveData" (even though that didn't matter since you didn't have the functions directory). I just tried removing caveData and initially if I just open CAVE, the derivedParameters directory wasn't there at all. Only after you try loading a product that uses derived parameters, will the derivedParameters/functions directory show up. So try loading the one of the model wind plots and see if the functions directory populates.
