Hi Justin,

AWIPS II does support Himawari-8 imagery, but I'm not sure if it is handled 
natively by a decoder of it they are ingested as McIDAS AREA files.  Unidata 
can only access the products for development purposes, so we don't redistribute 
Himawari data.
