This is all a bit uncertain right now. Yes, we would like to have a main EDEX server for people to use, but there might be a limit on the number of connections. Such a setup works fine within a forecasting office but may not scale to wider use. So the answer I have for you right now is "I don't know, but will find out". I can say no to "in the place of THREDDS".
