[UDUNITS #TOB-790521]: exponential

I'm not sure what you mean by "unable to deal with taking an exponential".

There is such a thing as a logarithmic unit (e.g., "decibel"). The original 
UDUNITS package doesn't support such units but the UDUNITS-2 package does.
