[python #KOZ-297880]: broken support link...

Greetings!

Not sure what the problem is that caused your message's rejection. Can you
forward the rejection response you received to address@hidden so she can
investigate further?

That particular file is available in MetPy's static collection of test/example
data:

  https://github.com/Unidata/MetPy/tree/main/staticdata

It will be automatically downloaded and cached by the `get_test_data()` that's
used in the example you linked to.

These text products are produced by the National Weather Service's Weather
Prediction Center. We host a rolling one-month collection of these files on our
THREDDS server:

  https://thredds.ucar.edu/thredds/catalog/noaaport/text/fronts/catalog.html

For a more extensive archive, you might consider looking over the offerings
from NCEI, though I didn't find them there on a quick scan. Another option is
the archive of NWS products from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet, under COD
product code:

https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/wx/afos/list.phtml?source=DMX&by=pil&pil=COD&year=2023&month=8&day=28&year2=2024&month2=8&day2=28&view=grid&order=asc

The data you linked to on Zenodo look like decoded versions of the text
products, and according to the documentation only contains the 4 front types
(cold, warm, stationary, occluded), and ignores the rest of the product. Since
these are already decoded, you shouldn't need to use MetPy's
`parse_wpc_surface_bulletin()` function at all. The plotting code should be
readily adaptable to the information contained in the netCDF files.

Cheers,

Ryan
