>From: Gilbert Sebenste <address@hidden> >Organization: NIU >Keywords: 200305292134.h4TLY8Ld000862 Gilbert, re: previous XFree86 configuration file used? >Right. And that is the one that crashed the machine. OK, just wanted to make sure that we were on the same page. re: does this machine have the same video card as your other machines >No. And... >Just found out from a Linux group and from a sysadmin guy on campus that >NVidia cards have really had problems, and now I'm hearing them about RH >9. I'm going to swap it out next week. It's there card. Hmm... I would venture to guess that the problem would most likely be in the driver for the video card and not the card itself. After all, it _was_ working for you under RedHat 8, and it is most likely working on tens of thousands of machines running Windows. re: running Xconfigurator remotely wouldn't give us much information >True, come to think of it! re: we may logon and poke around >OK. Good luck, from what I have now heard, it's the video card. Well, since Mike had to leave, and since you have a lead on a problem with RH 9 and the video card you are using, I think will concentrate on some other pressing problems this afternoon. Please let us know if your problem goes away with a different video card, and if it does, what video card didn't work, and what card(s) do work. Tom
