We are all in crazed workshop mode (machines breaking; networking problems; final preparations demanding top priority; etc.), so some things are slipping through the cracks. Again, I apologize. >I sent an email a couple of days back, and will press you >again for a reply. To build mcidas, I need f2c, f2c.h and >libf2c.a. > >I don't have the Sun compilers (yet), and thought I would >use gcc and f2c. Have installed gcc, but stuck on the >f2c stuff. I need a steer on building these files using >the source material from bell labs, or else copies of them >for Solaris8 sparc. > >I have downloaded the files from bell labs netlib/f2c/src >directory and unzipped them, but now I need to hold hands >with someone. I am forwarding this to Sandy to see if he can help you through the f2c build process. Since I have not done this on Solaris SPARC, I can't give you a simple A, B, C for the f2c build, but I have to imagine that there is an INSTALL or README document with the distribution that points the way. I would imagine that the process is probably something like defining zero or more environment variables; running configure; running make; and then running make install. I also imagine that you will have to be root to do the install, but, again, since I have not done this for Solaris SPARC I may be incorrect. >I see the files I am seeking on your ftp site for >Solaris intel, and for RedHat, but not for Solaris sparc. Hopefully, Sandy can do the build/install here on one of our Solaris SPARC machines and I can make the executable, header file, and library available in the same way that I have done for Solaris x86 and Linux. We will see if that option is viable after Sandy gets some time to look into the challange. >Thanks Sorry for not touching base earlier...
