>From: Steve Ladochy <address@hidden> >Organization: Cal State LA >Keywords: 200003232222.PAA20005 Unidata equipment grant platforms license Steve, >Our school was awarded a Unidata equipment grant Mar. 2, 2000 and we >received a letter of congratulations in January. Congradulations from the folks here that the UPC! >We are interested to >know how we go about ordering our server- I am not quite sure I understand this comment. I am assuming that you are asking for our current thinking as far as computing platforms go. Am I correct in this assumption? >our school hasn't contacted us >about funding yet; and also how we acquire software. Unidata-supplied software is available to licensed sites free-of-charge. All we need to make sure of is that you are properly licensed (licensing is also free). A quick search of our records indicates that Cal State LA is not yet licensed for Unidata products (please correct me if I am incorrect). I have included the licensing information sheet at the end of this email for you to fill out and return to us (I have entered as much of the information as I can gleen from this email; please fill out the rest). As soon as we have the information the information sheet asks for, we will begin and try to expedite the licensing process. >Bernard Grant >suggested I write Unidata directly. There is also a workshop in June >that we are interested in, with a deadline for registration April 7th. >Should we attend? The workshop this summer relates to how sites are using Unidata products for education and research. If you are looking for a training workshop on how to obtain/build/install/use our products, then it would be a good idea to signup for the training workshop that we will be holding at the end of October here in Boulder. >Thank you for your considerations. You are welcome. Please let me know what specific information you are looking for in your equipment purchase endeavors. It would be most helpful if you could give us a synopsis of what equipment you specified in your Unidata equipment grant proposal, and what your intended target audience is (e.g., how many students; what sorts of courses; etc.). This will help us determine what kind of computing resources would best fit your situation. >Steve LaDochy, Geography Dept. >California State University, L.A. ************************************************************************ Unidata Product Licensing Information Form: 930223 ======================================= NOTE: This form must be returned to "address@hidden".
