Many thanks for the help John- I thought removing the lat lon the coordinates (since they don't change) in <attribute name="coordinates" value="time depth lat lon" />was part of what was needed to accomplish the re-dimensioning needed for it being a profile instead of a grid. How are the two examples in your reply different?
Don't know how I missed profile instead of profileTimeSeries. sorry! Will upgrade toolsUI too. I hope your vacation is fabulous! Ellyn John Caron wrote:

I also attached the .nc file that contains the data, and the .ncml that has the modifications. This attempts to re-dimension the variables, add standard_names where they exist, and change attribute names. I haven't started trying to remove any unnecessary attributes like valid*.Please let me know what the error message suggests I should have done differently. Many thanks! EllynHi ellyn:attached is a corrected version. its feature type is timeSeriesProfile, and you need to name all the coordinates on the data variables, preffered form is:<attribute name="coordinates" value="time depth lat lon" /> or <attribute name="coordinates" value="time depth lat lon" /> as you can see.unfortunately, i also found a bug, which i will fix hopefully today, so you will need to get teh latest 4.2 for this to work.JohnBTW, i will be on vacation for a few weeks. you should send durether questions to address@hidden so that theres at least a hopr they can be answeredd while im gone.
