Hi John,

The files are at:
Index of ftp://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/GHRSST/data/L4/GLOB/NCDC/
click on 'AVHRR_AMSR_OI' then the year and then the Julian day.
For example:
Index of ftp://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/pub/GHRSST/data/L4/GLOB/NCDC/AVHRR_AMSR_OI/2008/130/

Dear John Caron,

We can certainly fix that. However, there are almost 30 years of daily
files. Thus, it will take some time.

Yes, I understand.

We have not had complaints about this before.

Because we are a generic data reader, we tend to run into these problems even
when specialized
software can tolerate them.

How can we be sure that this minor error is causing Ken Richmond to be
unable to read the netcdf files?

Ken is using our software (Netcdf-Java / IDV) to read these files, so I was
able to confirm the problem.

These files are also available at http://ghrsst.jpl.nasa.gov/
There
:Conventions = "CF-1.0" ;
Is this OK?
Maybe Ken Richmond can try to read those files.

  :Conventions = "CF-1.0" ;

should work, but I should double check.

Ken, can you download an equivalent file and send to me (or its URL)?

Dick, thanks very much for your help.

John
